Please note: Even if you have automatic updates enabled, you should still check for updates on a regular basis.
This is especially true if you do not restart Firefox for long periods of time, because Firefox must restart in order to install updates!

1. Open the Firefox browser on your computer.
Then, click on the three lines in the top-right corner of the browser window, as seen in the screenshot below:
2. A menu will appear on the right-hand side of your browser window.
Near the bottom of the list, click on the "Settings" option from this menu.
3. The Firefox settings menu will appear in your browser window.
On this page you will need to find the "Firefox Updates" settings - you have two options:
- Scroll down this page until you see the section with the heading "Firefox Updates" - it is located almost at the bottom of the page.
- To more easily find this section, click into the "Find in Settings" search bar at the top-right corner of the page, then type "update" and the updates settings will appear at the top of the page, as seen in the screenshot below:
4. Under the "Firefox Updates" heading, look for the section that says "Allow Firefox to" with some options below.
These options may already be selected. In that case, you do not have to do anything and automatic updates are already enabled for your Firefox browser!
To enable automatic updates:
- Click to select the radio button to the left of the "Automatically install updates (recommended)" option.
- You can also choose to optionally click to check the box to the left of the option underneath, for "When Firefox is not running," if desired.
- This option will install any new updates whenever you close and restart Firefox, instead of installing them while you are working in Firefox.
- If you choose this option, you will need to make sure you close and restart Firefox on a regular basis to install any recent updates!
